South Lakeland Housing Completions
December 30th, 2015 | Posted by in NewsSouth Lakeland District Council has published half year housing completion results for the period up to 3oth September 2015. These results indicate that housing completions continue to be significantly below Core Strategy requirements.
Garner Planning has calculated that since the start of the plan period in 2003/04 only 51% of the housing requirement has been met. This means there is now a shortfall of close to 2500 dwellings.
South Lakeland District Council can no longer demonstrate a five year housing supply, according to Garner Planning’s assessment, and therefore, according to the National Planning Policy Framework, South Lakeland’s policies for the supply of housing cannot be considered up to date.
If you have land on the edge of a settlement, whether allocated for development or not, please contact Chris Garner to discuss its residential development potential. There may be an opportunity to bring the site forward for development in the short term.
