Small site exemption from affordable housing obligations

May 11th, 2016 | Posted by Chris Garner in News

The Court of Appeal has today ruled that small housing sites should be exempt from the need to provide affordable housing.

The Government appealed against an earlier High Court decision that found in favour of Reading and West Berkshire Councils.

Today’s decision is to be welcomed. It means that more sites will come forward for housing development because of improved viability,  reduced planning and management complications.

If you have a small site that has been stymied by affordable housing requirements or have a site that you consider to have residential potential please give Chris Garner a call to discuss.
