Affordable Housing Definition to Change

December 10th, 2015 | Posted by Chris Garner in News

The Department of Communities and Local Government are consulting on a proposed change to the definition of affordable housing, which will  “expand the range of low cost housing opportunities for those aspiring to own their own home.”

Low cost market and starter homes (for first time buyers under 40, sold at a discount of at least 20% of market value and at less than £250,00o( or £450,000 in London) may form part of the new definition.

Such proposed changes are to be welcomed and will assist site viability and the delivery of housing.

The consultation period ends on 25th January 2016.
