Experience

Christopher Garner has 23 years experience in local government, private practice consultancy and the development industry responsible for land acquisition and planning matters.

Chris has worked for local planning authorities as a planning officer in both development control, dealing with planning applications and in policy dealing with local plan preparation and also has consultancy experience.

A large part of Chris’s career has been within the development industry based in the North West of England, working for major house building and development companies, most recently as a Development Director.

Chris has considerable experience of assessing the development potential of land, undertaking financial appraisals, promoting land through the plan system, negotiating planning permissions, including Section 106 agreements with commuted sums and affordable housing requirements and securing planning permissions either through negotiation with the local authority or at appeal.

The range of work has included single dwelling planning appeals up to major regeneration mixed use projects comprising residential, retail and employment schemes across the North West from Stoke-on-Trent in the south to Carlisle in the north.
